The Time for Action
This week we played quite the game; the startup game! This game was created for the sole purpose of making business a game... like Monopoly on steroids. We were each assigned our role, Founder, Investor, or employee. And our responsibility was to try and get the best deal possible for ourselves. The Founders wanted to raise as much money as possible and gain the employees necessary while retaining as much equity as possible. The Investors wanted to gain as much equity for as little money as possible. And the employees were trying to gain the best position at the company and earn the best salary.
I was assigned to be a founder, which was straight up lit. It was fun and I was fortunate enough to hire super great people to be on my team and together we were able to make our way to fame and fortune. Thanks to them and their ingenuity we were able to gain over 4 Million Dollars in Capital, hire a marketer, an executive or CEO, and a sales representative. We were also able to do all of this while retaining 45% of the company. It was a great experience and all who participated were able to learn a lot about the importance of negotiation and at the same time the security that loyalty brings to a company and a team.
The most important aspect of a company is Integrity, with integrity comes strength, unity, loyalty, and fairness. That is the most important lesson that I was able to take away from the game and the most important aspect of any company or team that I want to a part of or help build in the future.
